Group Discussion Prompts

Leadership Guide - Group Discussion Prompts Objective:

Group Discussion Prompts: Structured prompts to help small groups explore the Holy Spirit’s role in their personal convictions and ministry plans.

These prompts will guide small group discussions, helping participants explore how the Holy Spirit speaks in their lives and how they can respond to His conviction in practical ways.

1. Hearing the Holy Spirit:

  • How do you most often hear the Holy Spirit?
  • Through Scripture, prayer, circumstances, or conversations with others?
  • Can you share a recent experience where you sensed the Holy Spirit guiding you?

Follow-up Question:

  • How did you respond to the Holy Spirit’s prompting?
  • Did you act on it? What was the result?

2. Recognizing the Spirit’s Conviction:

  • What is one area of your life where you feel the Holy Spirit is convicting you to take action?
  • This could be related to your personal life, your work, your family, or a specific ministry need.
  • How do you know that this conviction is from the Holy Spirit?

Follow-up Question:

  • What scripture or prayer helped confirm this conviction?
  • How has God’s Word or prayer helped you discern whether the conviction is Spirit-led?

3. Challenges in Listening to the Holy Spirit:

  • What barriers or distractions make it difficult for you to hear the Holy Spirit clearly?
  • Is it busyness, stress, doubt, or something else?
  • How might you create more space in your life to listen to the Holy Spirit?

Follow-up Question:

  • What practical steps can you take this week to remove those distractions?
  • What change could you make in your daily routine or spiritual practices to better tune in to the Holy Spirit’s voice?

4. Putting Conviction into Action:

  • What is the Holy Spirit calling you to do in response to the conviction you’ve identified?
  • Is it serving a specific person, starting a new ministry, or making a change in your own life?
  • What’s the first step you can take this week to act on that conviction?

Follow-up Question:

  • How can the group support you in this step?
  • Share any prayer requests or support needs related to the action plan you are developing.
